Job Title: Project Manager II #1934
Location: The position is hybrid in either Denver or Minneapolis, with an expectation of being onsite 2-3 days a week. Depending on location and skill set, leader will consider remote/hybrid.

The Project Manager II will be responsible for overseeing project execution, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget. They will manage project scope, timelines, and resources, and will be accountable for all aspects of the project lifecycle.
Project delivery methodology will be Waterfall. While Agile knowledge is fine as our vendors often deliver using Agile, we are not looking for Scrum Masters or Product Owners or resources with extensive experience in the Agile methodology.
A typical day involves leading project meetings, coordinating with team members, managing project documentation, and addressing any issues that arise. The PM will also be responsible for communicating project status to stakeholders and ensuring alignment with project goals. Additionally, project financials will make up some time throughout the week/month.
The PM will support a team of approximately 10-15 members, including developers, business analysts, and testers. Key players include the project sponsor, department heads, and other senior stakeholders. They will report to the Program Manager. The work environment is highly collaborative and supportive, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and open communication.
Standard work hours are 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime may be required. Resource can work with their manager to discuss and manage time.
Candidate Detail Section
Experience with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software deployment projects, including integration with legacy systems. This is for niche products most of the time. The vendors that provide solutions are few.
This is NOT Oracle ERP, PeopleSoft, SAP, Amdocs, Vertex, CyberArk, PingID, ServiceNow, Salesforce, etc implementations. The skill set needed to deliver these kinds of projects differs significantly from what we are looking for in a resource.
Strong financial management background, including actuals/variance analysis, forecasting, etc. Experience with project management tools and software including Microsoft Project, Office 365, Confluence, SPM/ServiceNow, etc.
Experience managing resources (core project team). The Project Manager is expected to manage a Business Analysis, a QA Lead as well as direct work to a Project Architect (dotted line), SMEs, and vendor resources as well as managing up to their Program Manager.
We are not looking for someone who has extensive PMO experience. Understanding PMO process and procedures is the baseline knowledge expected as we strive to exceed those standards by wide margins. Standing up or managing a PMO is not aligned with our needs to deliver capital projects.
Strong verbal and written communication. Ability to run meetings and workshops effectively. Ability to summarize and visualize project information into engaging and illustrative executive summaries. Creative problem-solving. Proven leadership. Positive, engaging attitude.
The ideal candidate should have 10 years of direct project management experience, with an additional 5-10 years of PM or PM-adjacent experience such as PMO, BA, Test Lead, etc. In addition, experience working in larger organizations with interdepartmental coordination. Previous utility industry experience preferred. PMP or equivalent certification preferred but not required. Finally, Accrual-based accounting experience is preferred but not required. Vendor management, including RFP experience preferred.
